that is known to have so many outstanding natural beauties, with not a
few forests that are still virgin; the mountains are also beautiful
though sometimes they threaten with their activeness, and the dazzling
blue seas with stunning coral reef gardens. Overall they are the charms
that have strong magnet, which have made a lot of tourists from foreign
countries came to visit, and even some were willing to settle down.

From all
the matters, then comes the community of Bikepacker Indonesia (BPI),
which is the community that likes to travel by bicycle. Why bicycle?
Well, due to cycling, the community members feel it will make them
become closer to nature that they enjoy much. "With cycling, we could
actually have direct contact with nature, of which we enjoy much. This,
of course, will be different if we are traveling by car," said Hendra
Revellino, one member of Bikepacker Indonesia.

community was established on April 14, 2009. Starting from a cycling
hobby of one of them, namely Daus, then popped the idea to create a
special community of traveling by bicycle, as the means of
transportation. Then, over time, this community has also grown and
evolving, and their members have become more and more - which consist of
various professional backgrounds. "Our members in Jakarta alone, at
this time, have reached up to 400 people," said Hendra.

Like the
backpacker's way of life in general, this community also tries to
minimize costs while traveling. The tricks are, by doing a wide range of
efforts. Starting from the use of public places to rest, such as
mosques, gas stations, even police stations, up to bring along their own
food supplies, in order to save expenses. "In addition, to reduce
expenditures, we also often stay with our friends around the visited
area," said Herman.
Then,
where are the areas that they have visited? Well, it turns out to be
quite a lot. Because, almost all regions in Indonesia have been visited
by them. Starting from Sumatra, Komodo Island, to Borneo; mostly have
been 'conquered' by them. And incredibly, the came to all of these areas
by their bicycles. Whoaa, aren't they tired?
"If
talking about tired, it is tiring for sure, but the thing is, the
fatique will certainly be relieved when we see and enjoy the beautiful
scenery," Herman explained.

to Herman, BPI also has several annual and monthly programs, such as
'Bikepacker Pulang Kampung' ('Bikepacker Homecoming', ed.), which they
usually do ahead of the Eid al-Fitr Day. In the homecoming activities,
they also provide information about the routes that are safe for
traveling by bicycle.
